Monday, Monday

It's a light Monday today compared to last Monday - I only have one daycare kid and he will be picked up by 3:00! Nice way to start the week...I should probably enjoy these days because once school starts, I'll be back to having a full house every day!

Lexi has softball tryouts tonight & tomorrow night so wish her luck!! She seems a bit nervous about it. I knew they were "tryouts", but I assumed it was to see what position would be best for each kid. Apparently, it's to see if you even make the team or not! If she doesn't make it, I hope it doesn't make her not want to try out for future activities....

Travis buzzed Kiegan's head last night - he's got a nicely shaped head for it. Kiegan said he felt like he was in the army! Speaking of Kiegan - I guess he told my mom the other day that when it stormed Friday night he got his pillow and blanket and "slept on mom & dad's floor". I thought that was pretty neat....him calling Travis 'dad'. :o)

Can you believe I'm posting again?! (Grandma Carol will be so proud!!)

It's finally Friday!! I have a full house today, but I swear those days are easier than days that I'm not full for some reason. I met with a friend of mine who is due in November and was hoping beyond hoping that I could take her little one when she went back to work in January. At first I told her that I couldn't, but then she said that her mom was retiring at the end of the year so she would only need me 3 days a week which works perfectly!! I have another infant that comes on Mondays & Wednesdays so her little one will come on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays - works out perfect for the both of us!! I love having a full daycare, but I sure wish I could help out all the families that call/email me (I received yet ANOTHER email today from someone looking for daycare for their newborn). It really motivates me and reminds me that I've got a good thing going here. There are days that I need that reminder! Our little man, Dylan, was here to spend the day with all of us today - he's so popular here with the other kids and I just LOVED having him back even if it was just for the day.

Travis & Kiegan went to the demo derby last night at the 4-H Fair. Sounds like they met up with a lot of friends! It also sounds like there were a lot of "interesting" people there.... Speaking of Kiegan - the adoption is moving along! We received a letter in the mail that we need to take Kiegan to the sheriff's office so that he can be served the papers regarding the adoption. Just one step closer!

Not sure what the weekend holds for us...Travis mentioned camping, but I'm not sure if we'll really go or not. We tend to throw around about 10 different ideas b/c we never know what to do on the weekends we have nothing really going on!

Here are a few pics from today...
I just cleaned her up from lunch...a full tummy makes for a happy baby!
This is Maddie & Alexis - they are 6 weeks apart and I'm sure they'll grow up to be best buds!
Even though Maddie doesn't like pacifiers, she kept taking Alexis' out of her mouth and trying to put it in hers.

Pictures

Not much to talk about so far this week....looking forward to the weekend! Enjoy a couple of recent pics below....
Kind of a blurry picture, but Maddie LOVED the tissue paper on the table at the doctor's office!

Our 6-month results are in!

Maddie measures on the growth chart as "large" according to the doc! :o) She weighed 22 lbs. 11 1/2 oz. and was 28 1/2 inches long. She also received 2 shots that ended up giving her a fever the next day, but she was back to her normal self by Sunday morning. We went to Walmart and found her a super cute pink forward-facing carseat since she surpassed the weight & length limits on her carrier. She's such a big girl now!! I've got some pictures below of her sitting up by herself which she loves to do now. She also seems to know to wave 'bye' to people which is soooo cute and of course so smart of her! She does this sort of Miss America wave with her hand - I love it!
Travis & I had the Broerman Family golf outing Friday night & Saturday afternoon. Always a good time! Obviously we're not Broerman's, but we're good friends with some of the family so they are nice enough to include us. I actually didn't do all that bad I must say after only having played golf MAYBE 5 times my whole life! We didn't go to the "after party" - Travis went to a bachelor party that was at Trevor's house and I went to get Maddie from my mom which is when I found out that she was running a fever. So we stayed home and went to bed! Travis is up north with some guys and the 4-wheelers muddin' and rock climbing. He was sooooo excited to go!
Kiegan enjoyed football camp, but still doesn't want to play JFL - he said maybe next year! Lexi has softball tryouts a week from tomorrow. Hard to believe that school starts in like 4 weeks!! I think Mom's ready. :o)
Not much else is going on....I sure wish I could afford to expand my daycare or add onto the house or something. I think I get calls about every other day from someone looking for a good daycare. It's very flattering that they call me though!
Till next time....

This was just the other day at lunch - I guess she was tired??

I sorta stink at this blogging thing don't I?

Ok - so life is busy. Maddie & I have the house to ourselves this evening - Travis is with the boys at Joliet Speedway and Lexi & Kiegan are with Grandma Joanne at the play in the park. So the two of us are going WILD!! I'll try to give a quick run-down of what's been going on lately.........

I've got an early birthday/Christmas present coming TOMORROW - a Kindle!! I just don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep tonight b/c I'm so flippin' excited. If you don't know what a Kindle is just go to http://www.amazon.com/ - they have it right there on their home page. Does anybody know how difficult it is to read a book, turn the pages and hold a baby at the same time?? My problem has been solved!!!

I had a surprise yesterday too! Our mattress is sooooo uncomfortable so what comes pulling up to the house yesterday afternoon? The delivery truck from our local furniture store with a new mattress!! (Yes, I have a great hubby) This thing is a monster! I had to take a running start to hop up onto it, but boy is it nice.....

We ordered a new couch about 6 weeks ago that hasn't come in yet. Travis called the furniture store who then called the factory who realized that they forgot to let the furniture store know that they no longer carry the fabric we wanted! So they had fabric that was a shade darker so that's what we're going with now and it should be in by the end of this month.

In AWESOME news - it looks like there is going to be a new Sancken boy in the family! Kiegan will be starting the new school year as Kiegan SANCKEN!!!! We couldn't be happier! The whole process should take about 30-45 days. There is such an obvious relief for Kiegan that this is finally taking place. We have talked to him about how we don't at all expect him to immediately feel comfortable calling Travis "Dad" and that we don't expect him to call him that at all, but the two of us have talked about how we would love to see it in the future. :o)

The kids seem to be enjoying their summer - the boys are both finished with baseball. Kiegan has football camp next week to see if he thinks he might enjoying playing JFL (I'm not holding my breath on that though) and Lexi has softball tryouts towards the end of the month. Maddie was suppose to have her 6-month check-up tomorrow afternoon, but the doctor's mother passed away so it's been rescheduled to NEXT Friday! I'm anxious to see how much MORE she has grown! I have a feeling she's surpassed the weight & height limit on her carseat. She's wearing mostly 12-month clothes and has recently started getting into her 18-month clothes so she's certainly growing!!

Enjoy the pics of Maddie below! Here are a few of Kiegan fishing....
